about

Master of the understated and subtle, Dan Whitehouse releases the first single from his new album The Glass Age.

Campfire points to a deeper universal intelligence, and how we are deeply unified by the warmth of both sun and fire. Working with producer Gustaf Ljunggren, the track is best described as minimalist electronica and represents an exciting development in Dan’s creative evolution, now six albums in. Dan shines light upon the origins of the track by saying:

“With Campfire I’m likening the glowing sunrises over Tokyo Bay, to the campfires burning back home in the UK.

“During my time in Japan, I ran something called The Rising Sun Stream Series - it would be 5am in Yokohama, and evening back in the UK where some of my followers would gather to hear my songs. These sessions really connected us - it felt like we were gathering around the same sun, albeit in different forms.”

The needs of humanity are touched upon throughout the single, but perhaps most noticeably the transformative power of our own perception: “When you change the way you look at things; Watch the things you look at start to change; Through the flame of this gentle blaze; Everything is re-arranged” - the opening lyric elucidates.

lyrics

Campfire

V1

When you change the way you look at things Watch the things you look at start to change Through the flame of this gentle blaze Everything is re-arranged

CHORUS
This love we share glows like a campfire,
The embers crackle and we hum along.
We share the heat, the light and simple songs, And all our troubles are long gone

V2
A minutes silence every morning
Pay our respects to the great
Force awakening rising above us
A heat that penetrates our skin and fuels our chest

We do not surrender
There was never combat She comes in peace
We are one

CHORUS
This love we share glows like a campfire,
The embers crackle and we hum along.
We share the heat, the light and simple songs, And all our troubles are long gone
