  • Is there something you’d like me to write a song about? I love writing story songs and researching a topic like I do for my own songs. Folks have asked me to write songs to mark milestone birthdays and even for the first dance at their weddings.

This song could be personal or community based. Whatever the brief a song can be a strong vehicle for a message, and I'd love to write it.

about

Track 2 from The Glass Age album

The title track was born from a conversation with Stephen William Hodd and the title was a gift from Chris Difford. It expresses a longing for a simpler time, and how Stephen went through a rebellion against his grammar school upbringing. He’d embraced a new culture - wearing a Morbid Angel t-shirt and a jacket emblazoned with band patches lovingly sewn on by his mother.

lyrics

The Glass Age (ガラスのじだい,garasu no jidai)

V1
My mother was a morbid angel
Watashino hahawa byoukini kakatta tenshi datta
Sewing lights within me Watashino nakano sooinguraito
(I) Came home but I couldn’t sleep
Ieni kaettemo nemurenai
Hohono ryuushi
One day l’ll leave this island, Itsuka konoshimao hanareru
parade via the underground. Chikao tootta pareedo
The bells are ringing, Beruga natteiru
raining down. Amega futteiru
